‘1000 Smiles’ a program that helps hundreds of kids in Ensenada, Mexico

The National City Rotary Club is part of a great program called 1000 Smiles. Through this program, they help hundreds of kids in Ensenada, Mexico who have cleft palate and dental problems.

The National City Rotary Club had a clinic in Ensenada on February 6 and 7. In this clinic, the Rotary Club had 90 dental procedures and 5 cleft palate operations.

It was reported that there were 32 volunteers that rode the bus to Ensenada to work with 1000 Smiles and help these kids. These clinics are held every 3 months and they help hundreds of needy children in Mexico that have little or no resources available.

The clinic is operated 100% by volunteers; it consists of doctors, nurses, and members of the Rotary Club that do what they can to help.

Even though many of the volunteers come from the United States, there are also several volunteers from the Ensenada Rotary Club. As a member of the Rotary Club, I assisted in this clinic; I can honestly say; it was a life changing experience and I will be helping out in the upcoming clinics.
