San Diego REPertory Theatre will present a one-night only special workshop performance of author/writer and native San Diegan RICK NAJERA’s new comedy, DADDY DIARIES on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 7pm.
A local favorite, RICK NAJERA is an award-winning playwright and the father of three young children, including a one year old. DADDY DIARIES explores his life as a father through his eccentric and comedic point of view. San Diego REP has previously hosted Najera’s four original productions, A Quiet Love, Latins Anonymous, Latinologues and Sweet 15 Quinceañera. DADDY DIARIES is written and performed by RICK NAJERA and directed by GARY BLUMSACK.
“We are thrilled to once again host Najera’s unique comic point of view and talent on our stage,” said San Diego REP Artisic Director SAM WOODHOUSE.
RICK NAJERA, an established playwright and award-winning writer/actor/director/producer, is one of the most produced Latino playwrights in the country. His nationally recognized play Latinologues ran on Broadway for 137 performances, a historical achievement for a Latino-oriented show. Najera has been honored twice by Hispanic Magazine as “100 Most Influential Latinos in America” and is currently Executive Vice President of Development for MioTV and co-creator of KartoonTV.com. Najera is also the co-writer of the film, NOTHING LIKE THE HOLIDAYS starring John Leguizamo, Debra Messing and Freddy Rodriguez.
The one-night only performance of Rick Najera’s DADDY DIARIES will take place on Tuesday, January 27 at 7:00 p.m. at The Lyceum Theatre (79 Horton Plaza, San Diego). Tickets are$15 each or two for $25 and available at REP’s box office, 619-544-1000, or online at www.sdrep.org.
