Diversity Highlight Standing Room Only for Barrack/Block Event

CHULA VISTA -- While many things have happened since this event, it is still worth noting that the Obama Speech Watching Party, hosted by Marty Block for Assembly, attracted a record number of South Bay residents and elected officials and highlighted the diversity of the 78th Assembly District. Locals from Chula Vista and other parts of South Bay began arriving at 5:00pm, and continued almost non-stop until 7:00pm, the time scheduled for Barrack Obama’s historic Democratic Presidential Acceptance Speech.

Welcomed by Shara Perkins, Campaign Manager for Marty Block for Assembly, it didn’t take long before all seats were taken, but those in attendance did not seem to mind standing along walls. Moreover, Block received the most applause when he discussed the concerns of many in the South Bay which mirror those of citizens across the country.

Block said later, “People have been telling me they’re concerned about the weakening economy, high gas prices and that they really want health care reform and those concerns are falling on deaf ears,” continued Block, “I want those things too. But we’re going to have to elect people who will not just talk about those issues, but are willing to make the changes necessary to see them happen and I’m not afraid to make those changes.”

Marty Block for Assembly has scheduled a Campaign Office Kickoff Party for at 9:30am on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the South Bay Headquarters located at 380 Third Ave., Chula Vista (between F and G streets). Block will be in attendance, as will other elected officials and candidates for office in the South Bay.
