CNN’s Lou Dobbs’ crusade against illegals from Mexico and Mexico itself continues. His crusade is based on misrepresentations, lies and obvious ethnic dislike.
For example, the Harvard graduate had a “debate” on immigration and Mexico this last week but wouldn’t let the other man talk.
He made references to methamphetimine, heroin and cocaine “originating” in Mexico when that simply isn’t true. Every ounce of cocaine that exists or ever has comes from South America, mostly from Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and recently from Brazil. None originates in Mexico.
While he fantasizes that most heroin used in the USA “originates” in Mexico the reality is Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Lebanon’s Bekka Valley and Turkey produce the vast bulk of opium from which heroin is refined.
The second highest opium poppy cultivation is Asia’s Golden Triangle of Laos, Thailand and Burma.
Recently Mexicans have taken up methamphetimine production.
Marijuana grown in British Columbia sells for far more that Mexican marijuana on the American market. So does Northern California “sin semilla (without seed).” Dobbs is from Idaho, he must know these facts. He is supposed to be a “newsman.”
Let us scrutinize his record for professionalism and truthfulness. One of his greatest stories is one he personally approved of that declared that leprosy cases were running at 30-year highs in the United States caused by, of course, illegal aliens from Mexico.
An “expert,” “Dr.” Madeline Cosman was interviewed by a Dobbs’ “reporter.” and that leprosy statement came from her. “Dr.” Cosman’s doctorate was in Literature. She was not a medical doctor. She had a night law school degree. The statistics sounded real as they came from a woman with initials after her name so the report aired. Dobbs made a big deal about another negative story about Mexico or Mexicans.
Scientists who know about Leprosy challenged the statement and Dobbs report. Leslie Stahl on CBS’ “60 Minutes” program asked Dobbs about the controversy. He told her that he “stood by” the report and that if it was on his program it was lock solid true. But, of course, it wasn’t.
Real experts pointed out that the statistics quoted were a total of 30 years data, not of one year. “Dr.” Cosman had lied and the reporter restated the lie and Lou Dobbs declared it to be true because he allowed it on his program.
Did Dobbs knowingly lie or was it just his narcissistic affair with himself and his alter ego, Mr. Anchor/Mr. Newsman?
We have two instances of outright lies emanating from Mr. Dobbs. There is another we can document.
Dobbs constantly harps on what he and other nut jobs call the “North American Union.” It is, according to Dobbs, a conspiracy hatched by President Bush, former Mexican President Vicente Fox of Mexico, and the then Prime Minister Martin of Canada in 2005.
This “North American Union’s” purpose is to unite the USA, Mexico and Canada into one country, insists Dobbs. One Dobbs proof is the “NAFTA” highway stretching from the Mexican Border to Canada. Of course, there is no such highway planned by the three countries. Another “proof” is the “secrecy” around “The North American Union.”
Dobbs’ rants notwithstanding, the three national leaders of North America met in 2005 and agreed to begin steps to make North America the most economically powerful region of the world by cooperating with each other as trade partners.
Their public communiqué says it all: “We, the elected leaders of Canada, Mexico, and the United States, gather in Texas to announce the establishment of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America.
“Over the past decade, our three nations have taken important steps to expand economic opportunity for our people and to create the most vibrant and dynamic trade relationship in the world.”
Then there is the post 9/11 world to wit: “Since September 11, 2001, we have also taken significant new steps to address the threat of terrorism and to enhance the security of our people”
The focus is “Securing North America from external threats; Preventing and responding to threats within North America; and Streamlining the secure and efficient movement of legitimate and low-risk traffic across our shared borders.”
The key words are “elected leaders” working “to create the most vibrant and dynamic trade relationship in the world.” On Security, the key words are “external threats” which have resulted, for example, in detailed screening of airline arrivals into Mexico of people from suspect countries that harbor or sponsor terrorists.
As for Dobbs, no one elected him, no one commissioned him to be our daddy and no one need listen to him for he knows not what an “external threat” is.
Few people see his program, which rates no where near, say, CNN’s Larry King, or MSNBC’s Chris Mathews, or Brit Hume’s Special Report or Bill O’Reilly’s No Spin Zone on the Fox News Channel.
Only the vacuous minded pay attention to Dobbs a proven liar and demagogue who lives off the lies he spews. Dan Rather was gone after one proven lie, why is Dobbs still on the air?
