A feverish love triangle revealed through the passionate art form of flamenco

Lakshmi Basile and her Luna Flamenca Dance Company return to San Diego for a premiere engagement at San Diego Lyceum Theatre in a new work entitled “TROIS,” for two performances only on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28, 2008 at 8 pm.

With original choreography by the Company’s artistic director and featured dancer Lakshmi Basile “La Chimi,” TROIS showcases the virtuosity of flamenco luminaries – dancers, musicians, and a singer, who create a fiery dynamic of pure gypsy-style flamenco.

Critically acclaimed as a “rising star on the horizon,” Lak-shmi embodies the very essence of gypsy flamenco and captivates audiences with her exotic beauty, exquisite sense of timing, graceful elegance of style, and soulful interpretation. Praised by follow flamenco artists in Spain, it has been said of her dancing “tiene el sangre flamenco — un momento de puro placer.” (“she has the flamenco blood — a moment of pure pleasure.”) Also featured in this production is Vicente “El Cartucho” Griego from New Mexico, a powerful and magnetic singer whose voice resonates throughout the theatre. According to artistic director, Lakshmi Basile, this production was inspired by life experiences. “Love can be so cruel and beautiful at the same time,” she says.

General seating is $25 and priority seating is $35. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Lyceum box office.
