Community Forum to help business with ADA complaint

The recent onslaught of “American with Disability Act” (ADA) lawsuits filed against South Bay businesses by one attorney has made business owners fearful that they will be next.  The lawsuits are followed up with a letter that demands $45,000 to settle or a reasonable counter offer if the case is settled within two weeks. With more than 1,500 lawsuits being filed since 1993 by just this one attorney, there is no end in sight.

In an effort to help educate business and property owners, San Diego County Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA) is partnering with Chula Vista City Councilmember, John McCann to host a free Community Forum on helping businesses become ADA compliant. The featured speaker is architect Don Reeves, AIA, NCARB, CASp Application Number A080718-0003 who is an expert in the field of ADA compliance. In addition to his forty-plus year career, Mr. Reeves was responsible for reviewing the ADA considerations for Lindbergh Field, Petco Park and the Grossmont Union High School District.

The Forum is free to the public, but reservations are required since seating is limited.
