Councilman Rudy Ramirez will speak about his first 8 months in office and the convention he went to on revitalizing cities. Assistant City Manager Scott Tolloch and Nancy Lytle will explain the process to be involved in the city’s planning for the future of southwest Chula Vista.

Come express your opinions and make a commitment to defend your neighborhood. Redevelopment will affect all residents-renters, mobile home park residents, small businesses, as well as single family homeowners. For more information call 425-5771 or see www.swcvca.org.

Senior Nutrition Program Fund Raiser

We would like to inform you of our first-annual fund raiser to keep our Senior Nutrition Program operating. We have had our funding drastically cut (we are funded by Aging & Independence Services) for the past 10 years and need to bring in revenue so we won’t have to close any of our sites and cease operations to our senior clients, whom are very economically disadvantaged. We serve a hot daily meal 5 days a week to the very poor seniors in the city of San Diego, at 3 sites and deliver a meal to the handicapped home-bound. Our sites include our home-site at St Jude’s in Southcrest-Shelltown, and our satellite sites in Barrio Logan-Sherman, at Our Lady of Angel’s Church and at George Steven’s Senior Center in O’Farrell.  St Jude’s Senior Nutrition Fundraiser Dance is scheduled for Saturday Sept. 22nd, 2007.

Dinner will be served from 2pm to 4pm with music provided by Sammy Ybarra

From 6pm to 8pm- we will be entertained by Francisco “Luki” Muñoz and various artistas del Grupo Fiesta Mexicana, followed by DJ- Jesse Lopez untill 10pm.

Tickets are 2 for $25.00 or 1 for $15.00 at St Jude Community Center, 3751 Boston Ave, San Diego, Ca. 92113.

For more information call Sylvia Moran at 264-4771.

Children will become safer, healthier, and more productive citizens on September 22nd

On Saturday, September 22nd, 2007 communities worldwide will participate in the thirteenth annual “Kids Day America/International,” a non-profit Health, Safety, and Environmental Awareness Day. Dr. Bauer will be sponsoring the event locally from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm at the upper parking lot of Fremont Elementary School in Old Town, 2375 Congress St.

The event will provide essential information on crime prevention, nutrition, health and child safety, and environmental awareness. Strategic Data Systems will donate their services to provide free fingerprinting of all the children. Additionally, there will be special demonstrations by USA Freestyle Martial Arts, and fun games provided by My Gym. The kids can come and meet real life canine rescue dogs! The Fire Department is bringing a fire truck and will teach fire safety tips to the children. Dr. Bauer will provide free health screenings, and will be distributing vital information on disease prevention and health promotion.

The event is free, and “this year is especially exciting for Kids Day America/International™, as it is being represented nationally by celebrity spokesperson Jonathan Lipnicki, star of such films as Jerry Maguire with Tom Cruise, and Stuart Little 1 and 2” commented national event founders Drs. Theresa and Stuart Warner. “We encourage the entire community to join Dr. Bauer by participating Saturday, September 22, 2007 at this unique, fun-filled community awareness event!”
