On March 23-25, the top eight Under 17 Men’s soccer teams from Red Bull National League 17’s West Region will meet head-to-head at the University of California San Diego’s fields in conjunction with the Nomads Coaches Showcase Tournament 2007.
Red Bull National League 17 (RBNL 17) West Region contenders include: Arsenal FC (Alta Loma, Calif.); Irvine Strikers (Irvine, Calif.); Colorado Rush (Littleton, Colo.); Nomads (La Jolla, Calif.); Crossfire Premier (Kirkland, Wash.); Pateadores (Mission Viejo, Calif.); Dallas Texans (Dallas, Texas); Solar (Dallas, Texas).
All eight West teams will play three games in San Diego moving up or down in rank to prove they deserve a shot to become the RBNL 17 Champion. Team standings are based on the point system 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. Following the West Region tournament, scores will be tallied from all regular season tournaments to seed all sixteen RBNL 17 teams (East and West Regions) for the playoffs.
BACKGROUND ON RED BULL NATIONAL LEAGUE 17
Red Bull National League 17 unites the top sixteen Under-17 Men’s teams from across the country in the spirit of true competition and elite player development. The league consists of four weekend-long tournaments in which the teams compete to determine the RBNL 17 Champion. While all sixteen teams in the league will attend tournaments one and four, the teams will compete in their respective regions for tournaments two and three.
Following the first national tournament in North Carolina last November, three of the West Region teams reigned victorious and took a deciding lead in the standings. The East Region teams put their skills to the test in Atlanta, GA, this February, where Concorde Fire emerged victorious, heads above the rest of the region.
