The riveting sights and sounds of flamenco by Lakshmi Basile and her Luna Flamenca dance company will fill the air in a spectacular display of Spain’s revered dance form in two shows at San Diego’s own Turquoise Café Bar Europa in north Pacific Beach. The program features the artistry of rising flamenco star Lakshmi Basile (La Gita) and her guest artist Luis Peña direct from Seville, Spain.
In collaboration guest singers, dancers, and musicians, Lakshmi will thrill audiences with her incomparable virtuosity, powerful, intricate footwork, and elegance of style and beauty. Lakshmi, will perform with guest dancers, singers, and musicians to create a fiery pure gypsy-style performance with lots of passionate improvisation. “Luna Flamenca is flamenco up close, personal, and very sensual,” says Basilio Ceravolo, owner of The Turquoise and flamenco aficionado. “Performing in an intimate atmosphere like The Turquoise allows the artists to create a raw, fiery dynamic with the passion of pure improvisation as experienced in the tablaos [cafes] of Spain.”
Two unique performances will take place on Sunday, March 11, 2007, respectively, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
