2007 will go down in cinematic history as the year the Oscars embraced diversity. With Latino talent leading the nominations with upwards of a dozen nominations, also represented are Native-Americans, Asians and African-Americans.
“Latin Heat Entertainment”, the only English-language publications and website focusing on Latinos in the entertainment industry, is proud to join The People’s Concerts, LLC as they produce the first-ever annual Oscar Night America Los Angeles Viewing Party benefiting The American GI Forum California (Veterans Outreach Program) and The Wall Las Memorias Project (HIV Prevention and Education Program).
“As a proud media sponsor, we are excited that the prestige and glamour of Hollywood is coming to downtown Los Angeles on Oscar Night,” stated Bel Hernandez, Publisher of Latin Heat. “Now, for the first time in Los Angeles, the general public and entertainment industry people can come out together and share the excitement of the 79th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Los Angeles’ own Oscar Night America Charity Viewing Party celebrating the Diversity of Hollywood and, both past and present Oscar Nominees,” she further stated.
The Academy is cooperating for the 14th year with local charities to support official Oscar Night viewing parties throughout the country. The Los Angeles charity viewing party is one of 49 official parties, sanctioned by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, that will be held across the country on Oscar Night.
This will be the first Oscar Night America party sanctioned by the Academy to be held in downtown Los Angeles and for the general public to attend.
Oscar Night America Los Angeles charity celebration will be held at the Union Station in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, February 25, 2007. Doors open at 3:00 PM. Guests arriving early will enjoy local ABC-7 pre-Academy red carpet interviews beginning at 4 PM and the “live” viewing of the Academy Awards telecast on a large screen beginning at 5:00 PM.
“At the Union Station, guests will also enjoy appetizers, food, coffee and deserts, an art exhibit, charity casino tables, memorabilia and much more. Guests may feel like stars themselves as they walk down the red carpet, take a photograph in front of the Oscar Night America Statuette banner, experience the flashes of the paparazzi, and be entertained by a variety of singers and entertainers including the talented singers Noelia, Patty de la Cerda, and Elvia, the band Vinyl-Soul, The Delgado Brothers Band, and DJ Samba Jam ...starting at 8pm,” stated Fred Zermeno, Executive Producer, The People’s Concert, LLC.
“Oscar Night America offers a taste of the Academy Awards show to communities across the country, many of which are happy not only to share in the glamour, but to support a good cause,” said Academy Executive Director Bruce Davis. “Oscar Night America enables the public to participate on a local level, where the festivities and fundraising can yield the greatest benefit.”
Official Oscar Night parties last year raised over $2.5 million for local charities in 47 cities. All money raised stays in the community.
The Academy will provide party guests at Union Station a limited number of the official program distributed to guests seated at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, California. Copies of the 79th Academy Awards commemorative poster will also be available.
The People’s Concert LLC, the official Oscar Night America Los Angeles coordinators, have released a limited amount of exclusive tickets to the public. Tickets are on sale at www.thepeoplesconcert.net, or www.thebestdamn tickets.net
“Oscar Night America generates excitement all over the world,” said Jimmy D. Dich-irico, Executive Producer and representing the American GI Forum of California. As a sanctioned Academy event, guests of the inaugural Los Angeles viewing charity party will feel all the excitement of attending the awards ceremony while supporting a good cause,” he further stated.
