A Short Story
The Man and the Serpent
By Heriberto Escamilla
This is a story of a man that lived many years ago. It came to me the other night in the form of a dream. The story repeated itself in my head several times and each time, another piece was added until it was complete, save for the name of the man. Perhaps if you pay attention to his actions and his words you can help me give him a name. You all have ear and eyes. You can see and can also decide for yourselves whether or not this story is true.

Rivera and Mayorga, both got what they deserved
”El Gallo” earns his world title, while “El Pollo” took a beating!
By Mike Indri
If this past Saturday night proved anything to the millions of boxing fans, especially those that tuned into Showtime’s Jose Rivera vs. Alejandro Garcia battle or paid to see Oscar De La Hoya pummel Ricardo Mayorga on HBO’s Pay-Per-View, it’s that sometimes justice does get served. To Jose Rivera, a Worcester, Ma. Court officer and the new WBA Super Welterweight World Champion, justice has prevailed, and it was sweet!
Robles back with the Dodgers for a Second Season
By John Philip Wyllie
The path to the Major League has not been an easy one for former Montgomery High 2004 CIF Player of the Year, Oscar Robles. The 30-year old Tijuana native played most of his professional career in Mexico before breaking into the Majors with the Dodgers last year as a utility infielder. He is only the 16th Mexican-born player in the history of the organization to wear the Dodger blue. In 2005, he ranked among the league’s top ten rookies in several categories with 99 hits (fifth), 18 doubles (seventh), 31 walks (tenth) and a .272 average (ninth). All of that of course, guaranteed him absolutely nothing for this season.
Bullfight World

Art & Showmanship
The crowd roars its approval as the matador performs in an apparently suicidal manner. His suit of lights is covered with blood. He spends more time in the air than on his feet. His eyes are wild, his movements are exaggerated, his impression one of fantastic bravery.
