Movies Featured in Several Chula Vista Parks this Summer

These balmy summer nights are a perfect time to enjoy a movie and the Chula Vista Recreation Department is offering free family-oriented films at several locations in the coming weeks. All of the films will be shown outside and attendees may bring a picnic or snacks. The variety of options include:

Movies in the Moonlight at Veterans Park: Bring beach chairs, a snack, and family or friends to watch free G- or PG-rated movies on July 28, Aug. 25 and Sept. 22. The films begin at dusk in Veterans Park, 785 East Palomar St. For more information, call (619) 691-5260.

Summer Family Movie Night at Montevalle Park: Enjoy a free G- or PG-rated movie beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 in the new Montevalle Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets and snacks. The park is located at 840 Duncan Ranch Road; call (619) 691-5269 for more information and the name of the film.

Family Friday Movie Nights at Otay Recreation Center: Spend every Friday evening in August watching a movie and munching on popcorn at the Otay Recreation Center. Pre-registration is required for these free films and popcorn that are scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on the center’s outside patio. Movies in the Moonlight at Heritage Park: Pack dinner and enjoy it with the family while watching a free G-or PG-rated movie on Aug. 11 at Heritage Park. The movie will begin at dusk and will be announced the day of the event. Heritage Park is located at 1381 East Palomar St.; call (619) 421-7032 for more information.

Family Movie Night at Memorial Bowl: A fun family night is planned on Sept. 23 with a free G- or PG-rated movie beginning at 6:30 p.m. The film will be shown in the renovated Memorial Bowl adjacent to Parkway Center at 373 Park Way. Call (619) 691-5083 for more information.
