David Moya was raised in Southeastern San Diego and aspired to do something positive with his life. He overcame the challenges of growing up in a tough neighborhood to become a San Diego Police Officer. David Moya returned to his neighborhood to serve as a police officer and positive role model.

On May 12, 2006 as David drove home after work he was involved in a fatal accident. The incident took place in Southeastern San Diego and the officers David worked with responded to the scene.

As a result of David’s death his surviving family has experienced severe financial hardship. The family home is being sold. David and his wife Josie were in the process of adopting a son prior to his death. The adoption proceedings have moved forward. Legal fees for the proceedings have accrued and lastly the family is still paying for the motorcycle David was riding when he was killed. To say that the family is suffering tremendously would be an understatement.
